Surfcamp Sri Lanka is the result of over 20 years of experience working in and running surf camps in Europe. Established in 2004 we have developed a solid relationship with the local people of Sri Lanka and are proud to be among the first foreign surf camps to be spreading the word.
Founder Matt Shears has over 15 years professional surf coaching experience holding qualifications from the BSA, NaRs(BL) and the FPS (surf federation of Portugal).
We offer an authentic surf vacation for both beginners and more experienced surfers looking to discover a beautiful country and surf uncrowded warm water waves in the deep south of Sri Lanka.
Our main objective at Surfcamp Sri Lanka is to get you in the water as much as possible. You will be staying in front of the beach you will be surfing on! Grab your board and go when you like. We focus on what we know and leave out what we dont.
We believe that learning to surf above all else should be safe, informative and fun. Small groups and almost perfect Indian Ocean conditions in Sri Lanka provide an excellent environment for our surfcamp to achieve this. We can all learn something?
There is a lot of talk these days about "luxury surf camps" which is fine.
We are not a 5 star bare foot luxury yoga spa, we are a Surfcamp. Our camp is clean and simple, situated on one of the best beaches in the area. The real luxury of a surf camp comes from the natural beauty of the surroundings the accessibility and quality of waves and the beach being on your door step!
We have a fantastic open air restaurant at the camp meters away from the Ocean where we all eat breakfast and dinner together.
